A guy in the bow? Nothing to it , they probably do it frequently. Sometimes camera lens angles distort real speed and distance.

Hmmm, i think i would have just stayed out. Why risk it. Best thing for a boat in those conditions is lots of sea room.

I noticed that he kept his stern square to the waves to keep himself aligned with the opening without a wave pushing him where he didn't want to go......it sure looked like he's done this before

I could swear I saw this a year ago or so on You Tube!! I remember it because it really reminds me of Morro Bay in No. California... It is amazing and those people up there have alot more guts than we have....... No matter when it was shot it is quite thrilling!

they are sail boat and meant to be sail in wind! that was a very good sail at 40 to 45 degree with only the jib and one reef last fall

I had almosst the reverse experience. Sailing in to MDR Ca in a heavy fog. As I was sailing in a fisherman asked me why I was going up Balona Creek which runs paralell to marina channel. Not a few yards ahead was a low bridge on Lincoln Boulevard. Thanks to the fisherman we avoided a mess. Lesson learned, anchor 'til the fog lifts. Fair Winds and Full Sails...

Yes.. this vid's been around for awhile, but it is still cool to watch... what is really impressive is after he sets the boat through the first seawall, he's lined up to get into the inner harbor... there's no way to stop or turn to get through the second gate... so it's all one shot.
