Sounds to me like the Bug Man who plants a few roaches to hopefully insure future employment.

See, we should still be using tubes, which are impervious to Electromagnetic Interference.

Does anybody really think that "all of a sudden" we are having larger solar storms?
This is the same hype the weather guys use with hruicanes and tornados and global warning. We just brought the STERIO sun staring sat on line so we can finally get a really good picture of what is going on on the sun. Supprize! we see more storms. Who would have thunk that if we look at the sun more we will see more. What a concept.

I'd love to see the newest vacuum tube handheld GPS receiver.

They really don't know for sure but this article is pretty good at claiming what 'could happen' will happen. The current cycle is much quieter than expected. I suspect the doomsday solar storms predicted in this article wil be more of the same. "unexpectedly weak solar peak" or something like that. Headlines in the UK: " Baffled scientist disappointed world did not end, warns of next cataclysm"

There will probably be some jackass selling power wristbands that will channel the natural frequencies into personal energy and possibly render the wearer a mutant super hero. I need to get a kiosk at the mall....Does anybody know the frequency of those natural frequencies - the superhero ones? I need a source for Kryptonium too. I guess I could make them from refined bauxite ore blasted with UV rays.

Pretty funny, Forrest.. Note struck me, and so now I must ponder the possibility of a vacuum tube type GPS..?? Man, it would be pretty big ! I think the tubes were already gone by the time true GPS came about?? I have seen tube type Radar sets and LORAN sets .. but never a GPS or the old satnav stuff.. Need to consider that over a rum and a good cigar later today !

You know, articles like that pop up with regularity. Since the 70s when I was heavily into radio, they seem to show up every 4-5 years or so, each time 'dire consequences to communication' are predicted.

I think they have a stack of 'scares' on the spindle for slow news days.

Forest you better hurry

I have already seen commercials on TV for some wrist bands that do part of what your talking about. They say they improve balance, and hint at improved strength. Like me, your ship has come it, and you were waiting at the bus depot instead of the dock.

They're very close to that of a cash register.

It's prime-time Saturday night, we just finished watching a good movie on a secondary-market TV station, and that stupid wristband ad was on 3 or 4 times an hour. Stuff like that (and the "we buy your gold!!!" ads) really does make it seem like we're in an economic depression.

Good thing we're sailing tomorrow :)
