Just back from a cruise(ship) to Barcelona where we docked near a ship that my envious mind wanted to call a boat trailer, or is it a boat boat. It was stacked with super high dollar sailing hardware being brought back to play in the Med from a winter jaunt in the Caribbean.

If I could say one thing about the ports in Spain/Italy it'd be that those guys love to sail. There were very few power boats compared to sailors and sailing events of all sizes were broadcast on TV often.

Did you ever see the kind that lowers itself into the water to pick up the boats ?

Don, thats simular to the ships that transported the USS Cole after she was hit by terrorists. They also transport offshore oil rigs with semi submersibles. Really cool! By the way, hope you and all your familly is doing well and getting out on the water often this summer. We'll be up in ME at Acadia again this year. Had such a good time last year.

JimmyB!

Nice to hear from you. Acadia is a great place. I've never sailed there though. So, will you trailer your boat there? Wait, weren't you going bigger? I seem to remember you looking at a 24 footer, or am I flashing back, chemical recreation from the 70's y'know.

We are all well though we haven't gotten out yet. Our baby needed a fresh coat of paint and this spring was terrible for painting. But . . . the boot stripe went on Monday. I reinstalled the motor mount and started the kicker. She started on second pull (after I installed the kill switch lanyard anyway). Just fix the trailer lights (broke those climbing into the trailer to sand) and we're good. So Saturday, early, we'll be out. We might even anchor at one of the Islands. Jewell is a favorite as is Richmond. Nothing like it!

Well, boss is breathing down my neck!

Fair Winds!

Don,
We upsized to a 17ft pocket cruiser, but we are going North for some R&R including camping hiking and bouldering around on all those lovely rocky shores. Cant tow both the camper and the boat. Besides I like jumping in the water after a hot day of sailing and them thar waters is fridgid mate.

Yes, up there the water IS cold. They say that the Maine shore is really two separate climates. Get past Sheepscot Bay and the water cools 15 degrees and gets much darker.

Finally a photo of you boat! She's real pretty! Congrats! You can always do what Sum and Ruth do . . . camp in the boat!
