Hi everyone,
brand new to the forum! my wife and i just picked up a daysailer yesterday, and today are going through the motions of relearning the rigging and getting her ready for launch. in our clean-up this afternoon, it became clear that the fiberglass cover for the seat storage compartment up near the cabin is just about to fall apart. as such, i'm looking for a replacement or for suggestions on alternatives. have trolled the internet, but am not even sure what it's called, so am not having much luck. thanks!

D&R Marine in Assonet may have what you need. http://www.drmarine.com/ Rudy carries a lot of O'Day parts and is very knowledgable about O'Days.

Rudy has those, if he doesn't have it in stock, he has the molds. Also, check out the thread on "ASK AN O'DAY OWNER", someone was parting out a DS II and may have that hatch still available!

OH, the part name would be cockpit locker lid, or actually I guess "Ice Box" lid, since O'DAY called the compartment a "Built-in Ice Box". I use mine for storing docklines and such.

I see your "screen name" is Clarkcove..... are you near New Bedford? If so, Rudy has "open-house" every Saturday morning (9-12) at his shop i nAssonet, MA (about 15 minutes up Rt 140) and it would be worth bringing the old hatch to him for repair/replacement. I'd call him first, to be sure he is open o nthe saturday that you wish to visit. (508) 644-3001

Thanks everyone. Excellent advice. I'll look for the DS II post, and give Rudy a call.
We're actually based out of Boston, but a trip down on Saturday to Rudy's shop sounds like it would be worth the drive.
I thought it looked like the lid for an icebox, but it's in such shabby shape, i couldn't imagine it keeping anything cold...the guy we bought it from had some random hardware stored in there.
Thanks again.
