am anchored since sun up yesterday in mazalan old harbor near patricia belle, friends of mine with a schooner they commercially charter here. they are wonderful folks and will be headed for sd in june--- he is tired of hurrycame season, and will return here in nov.....
everything is goood--- having no timepiece is excellent for me-the adjustment period has been since 2004, as i sold a wristwatch with every car i sold--i had 7 at one point, just because i could.... could wrench em also-- back before i became a chimpanzee,,,LOL... mazatlan is good--- esay to survive on very small amounts of money. i was advised 40 dollars can get ye thru a good 5 week month-we see--flat chocken is reputed to be good--but th white meat is a bit too dry for most folks so they make salad of it.... or casseroles or soups.i have been warned i will be "flat chickened" soon. guess that part of my virginity isnt spozed to be spared lol. have been advised is kinda like pollo loco but much better flavor. we will see........
as for the siling here-- we had 60 kts of breeze and then dead calm within 24 hurs -- the de3ad calms lasted about 36 hours each. off cedros island, if ypu are short of diesel or have ANY ENGINE DIFFICULTY, AS DID I, MAKE SURE YOU START THE DRIFTING about half way into cedros island, as the southerly drift current many refuse to admit exits on west coast from north pacific to south america will drag ye onto rocks if you havent eyes open. we were close to island and had windshadow effect then venturi effect, so i tacked toward mainland to catch air and we sailed for a couple hours into some breezes then returned to our southerly directionality. gods bless simrad hdl 2000!!!!! i so love that auto pilot-- didnt bauble once. the engine did bauble as dirty fuel managed to enter system and no biocide was used..oops-my bad. now for the new to me used racor system i still need......and the 2 bolts holding the alternator managed to snap off the last time he tried to use engine-- so we jury rigged and went along fine.....
juan lu managed to repair my 8000 sd repair estmated work with me only having a 20 dollar outflow of money to effect in full and well.....LOL... never pay retail. NEVER.
cedros was cool--- but no way to get money if not have cash in hand. internetz were wifi in the port cpt office...oops..... and is a goood thing juan lu, my crew from botes juanitos, in ensenada, was with me so we could expediently get work done and proceed. he is very highly recommended-- intelligent and capable.

and formosa my life i will be rebuilding my formosa..LOL-she sails damfine--8 kts under mizzen and jib, both reefed and no engine..LOL
