I have the original style mixing elbow (NOT U shaped) which is corroding badly from the outside and needs replacement ASAP. Can someone point me to the cheapest source of an adequate elbow? I saw the one on Torresen for $201. Is there somewhere better?

Second question. Should I resign myself to taking off the entire manifold or is it possible to take off the elbow without taking off the manifold? Has anyone done it?

Thanks!

Steve, there is a flange on the aft end of the exhaust manifold that the mixing pipe is screwed into. Therre are 4 bolts holding the flange onto the exhaust manifold.. Pull those bolts and the mixing pipe and flange will come off the engine.. Then you can remove the mixing ell and nipple and re-use the flange and nipple with the new ell.. Assemble before re-installing the new stuff.

I have owned three Yanmars. None of them including the new 3YM30 had the 'U-shaped' mixing elbow. Is the price from Torresen for the 'U-shaped' or standard? You probably can't do better for a new one.

I imagine it's the standard one. There's no picture. I'll call them.
