What's up with the trailering crowd?

Everyone always goes with the same 3 choices it seems ie Mahogony,Teak or Walnut. I am tired of them all mostly due to working with them in construction I suppose plus they are somewhat dark. To answer your question now I have used Birch as its quite light in color and with such a cozy (read tight) cabin I wanted it to appear as spacious as possible lol plus I like the grain pattern :dance:. Eventually the entire cabin will be painted white inside and someday a headliner installed.

I like the birch, looks very nice.
I have old faded wood grain formica (curse of boating industry) which has been painted in the salon and left bare in the v berth.
I'll cover this with something thin, I've used luan doorskin before and it comes out very nice and is very cheap compared to any of the exotic woods. I've seen birch ply at the big box stores but not in less than 1/2 so I'll check around as it would be a nice option.

It's killing me. I've got a coat of Easypoxy on. I had to sand it smooth because it didn't level like I expected. Now, I'm waiting for two contiguous days of sun and a starting temp of over 60 degrees. It's been three weeks. 6 days of rain, overcast, more rain, a sunny morning, more rain, another 5 days. Its 65 in the house so I started the pellet stove so my lovely bride will be toasty when she wakes. Probably low 50s outside.

I really shouldn't complain. I don't have water up to my toaster oven. The south side of the town hasn't been ushered away by a tornado. There's no pending nuclear meltdown spewing radioactive waste and screwing up my carbon-14 footprint. I'm good.

Trailering crowd

Say, been busy with work on the Oday 26. I try not to take it out of the sling slip as i can do most things while it is there and up. Mast work is a bit different!

I'm almost to the point of spending the $1000 for the Rudder Craft kick up rudder for this boat......evryone who has one or seen one gives them high marks. My only concern is still the rudder/tiller connection.... I want it to be strong as the original design was weak and my boat had been retrofitted with strong aluminum plates.

Weather

Smile and be Happy you are one coat of easypoxy ahead of me lol. I have not even been able to finish the bottom sanding prep completely due to weather :cussing:. As you mentioned though things could be much much worse.

Well I did a good deal of the remaining refit shopping yesterday. Bought a Sealand 2.8 gal MSD to replace the old and worn out box. The plus being that the way the pump out is configured it will be a snap to add a seaside pump out as well . Bought a Paranah 150 Fishfinder instead of a dedicated depth sounder. It offers way more under keel info and is actually readable from the rear of the cockpit without binoculars lol. Got a Grarmin VHF and stubby ant. Got replacement anchor and transom lights which will accomodate replacement led lights I think. New anchor line and shackles. Several new deck lines. A battery switch dual and two new bus bars. On monday I will have to go to Dartmouth and order another gallon of the easypoxy ( I don't think the current one gallon will be enough ) and 1 gallon of the white semi-gloss for decks and cabin. Also will replace the distribution panel with a new one with 8 circuits lighted rockers with integral circuit breakers. And finish off with a 100' roll of round awg 14 gauge marine wire. And I have yet to find someone in Canada selling the Attwood LED nav side lights for reasonable.

Today I am off later on to find some 3/4 or 5/8 g1s ply for the counter top and hopefully a small piece of arborite hunter green .

I acutally think that we maybe be able to splash her sometime in June now if and only if the 'Weather' will co-operate with me .
