I bought a 23.5 Hunter last year and moored it on Lake Mendota in Madison Wi. The boat has a CDI furler and last season we would take the jib down and store it after sailing each time. To much work. The jib has a UV panel on it. Do I use what I have or buy a jib sock.

I hear ya on the hassle dealing with the CDI. It's a tough, simple, inexpensive furler but raising and lowering the genoa is a PITA. I have one on our Capri 22 and use a sock during the sailing season and only remove the sails for the winter.

If your sail has a UV panel, you should be good. It may get a bit dingy from spider poo and maybe a little bit of mildew but that usually cleans up in the off season.

Bill, we leave ours up and furled year round because we sail year round. Just once or twice a month during the winter but still year round. My Gus sails 135 was new 2 years ago and still looks new now. Mine also raised and lowered easily a month ago when I pulled the internal halyard tight. As Clark said you should be fine with your UV panel on it. Charles

You'll be ok with the uv panel. We have a similar setup and leave ours up and furled. In the winter, I store the jib and furler in our garage. The uv panel is sacrificial and replaceable when it gets thin. I just had my uv panel replaced by a sail loft this winter. My boat's a '93 and the sails are still in good shape.

If you don't mind saying, what did it cost you?

I bought it for $3000 with a 5hp Honda outboard, trailer etc. I had to replace the plastic part of the cdi furler and a few other very minor fixes. It is a 1992
