They don't really celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Mexico. That is a US time to drink magaritas.

And all this time i thought......

I have always thought it was because ......when the Titanic sank and lost the load of Helmans Mayo intened for the Pres of Mexico...that being the party people that they are down there that it just gave them one more reason to party...hence .....Sink a the Mayo.....

Zee, even though it's a school night for my son, and a work day the next day, I'll "cinco" a few margaritas in your honor. Fair winds!!

is a party here while i am here as there is a large drop off in tourism here-- the cruise ships are coming in nearly empty and business has been very very slow....it is not dangerous here. one MUST keep an eye on own stuffies, and be aware there are bandidos at night-- but those seem to have been placed in check for a while. there has been no sign of the violencia that occurs in juarez and tj and other border towns. the marinas are able to be negotiated with , unless ye go to baja naval or cruiseport or coral-- those are absurdly expensive. i found safest marina is botes juanitos and marina ensenada is second. both are able to be negotiated. is very very cheap to eat here--- fish tacos are 3 for 2 dollars.... good meal .. alfonso's , about a block from malecon, is a it pricy -- has decent pizza and nice management--- enjoyed eating there the few times i could afford it! whatever ye do , dont go to bandidos marina--is the one with orange pilings next door to baja naval-- many bandidos there, otherwise is ok..LOL...when ye need work done on boat without haulout- juan lu at juanitos is a cpt and very good at repair diesels and other cool stuff.....surprises me everytime i find something he knows-- which is a way lot.....does everything from diving to diesel repair to deliveries and routine maintenance.... excellent! he fixed my leaky situation without a haulout and without sinking my boat..LOL
he is also my crew for my mazatlan trip. very smart on this coastal situation and fishing and the important stuff.....\
the only celebration here will be the "thank goodness that one is leaving" party!!! as we slip the lines and sail out of here.......

As you probably already know, Zee, it is critically important to have your and your crew Mexican fishing license unless you have all fishing gear off the boat. Mexico is very strict about that.
