Daysail rentals out of Marathon,FL?

Hi John, we are anchored in Sunset Cove off of Key Largo on the Gulf side. We like it a lot better than Marathon. It looks like there might be some places here that might rent boats.
We tied the dinghy to the dinghy dock at Upper Keys Sailing Club today for a buck and it looks like they had a bunch of Hobie Cats for rent, but not sure. Maybe give them a call at 305-451-9972 and ask.
Buttonwood Sound here is really nice and the water is clear and 85 deg now and perfect for us.
We spent a few days at Marathon anchored on the Gulf side and then about 5 days in Boot Key Harbor on a mooring where we rented a car and drove over to Ft. Myers Beach to look at an Endeavour 37. We are buying it and will close about the 11th of May.
When we went and looked at it we got the Suburban/trailer and moved them from Port Charlotte over to South Dade Marine where we will probably take out on Monday.
It has been a great 400+ mile, 7+ week trip down the west coast, 10,000 Islands/Everglades and then across Florida Bay to Marathon and now working up the Gulf side. The Mac has been good to us the whole way.
One other thought about renting a boat. I don't have the link, but I think I saw a YouTube video about some people that got a cottage that came with a 20-22 foot sailboat somewhere around Long Key. You might google that and see what you find.

Well actually we are getting a larger boat and keeping the Mac. It has been very good to us and we still have a lot of trips planned for her. Can't beat being able to trailer her anywhere we want to go.
We found on this trip we would like to spend even more time on the water each year. We love our home in Utah's canyon country so will hopefully we will be spending time between there and the new boat. The new boat will just raise the comfort level on longer cruisers with its spaciousness and also the comfort on the water in adverse weather.
We will start by taking the new boat to All American Covered Boat Storage by Port Charlotte and leaving her on the hard there for the summer. There are a few things that need to be worked on. After leaving there we aren't sure where we will end up or where the boat will be stored next.

Holy Smokes Sum,
You two have been busy.........fun busy at that.....good for you. I have been busy, but it hasn't been sailing. I have a couple days in Marathon this weekend, and was looking for a chance at some R and R while there(weather lately has been making for long days) . Hobies......now I hadn't thought of that. Last time I spent some time on a Hobie, I had some major radiation exposure when the winds died on Lake Erie 35 years ago. They are a hoot though with good winds. Not sure if my co-pilot will be up for getting wet(he's a power boater...but his Dad sails...hope for him yet). I'll give those numbers a try, maybe they can direct me otherwise. I have a rental car, so am not tied to Marathon. Endeavor 37?......now THAT will keep you busy. Sounds like alot of fun. I have been looking at a Catalina 30.......but time will tell....... won't be trailer sailing that one. Fairwinds, happy trails, be safe..........

We looked at Cat 30's and 34's. Very nice boats and I think they would of been a good deal for us also. It was going to pretty much be one of those or the Endeavour.
Have fun and if you go out here tomorrow look for us. We have an anchor sail up and or at the south end of Sunset Cove just off shore. We have decided to stay tomorrow as we want to go back in the water and swim some more. Then Sunday move up to Manatee Bay by South Dade Marina,

I chartered a Catalina 27 from a guy who had a little charter business called Pagan Yacht Charters a number of years ago. The boat was docked at the Keys Fisheries Marina in Marathon on the gulf side. If you are going south on the OH turn right at the Stuffed Pig and drive towards the gulf. The boat was cool but the guy was a serious jerk. Might be worth checking out though.
We were anchored on the Gulf side for a number of days and the only place we could find to take out was at Keys Fisheries and we got gas there also. We ate there, good food, and they would let us leave the dinghy there while shopping.
Anyway I forgot that, but someone was advertising sailing lessons there and that might be who you were talking of.

Well..... we landed about 1230 at MTH. My co-pilot has not been to KW since he was 10......alright I'll go......they were having their annual bed races down Duval St....something everyone could afford to miss.......ended up at Hogs Breath Saloon and called friends to view us on the web cam..........mission tomorrow.....get out on the water. Thanks for the leads.....will let you know what transpires.....I did bring my flyrod just in case.....

That looks like the number. Keys Fisheries was a great place with great food. I loved the lobster reuben-yum. Yes, there was someone there who was doing sailing lessons too along with the Pagan Yacht Charter guy.
How I would love to be there right now. This endless Minnesota cold is wearing me down...
