Well still cleaning all the salt from our trip to Tarpon Springs and getting her ready for our trip to Key West and Dry Tortugas the end of April.
Anyone else heading that way.

Not going to make it

Sorry, but I am not going to make it. Between an electrical gremlin and some family commitments, decided it best to turn around and come back home. Planning now on making it that way in the fall.

And what is this gremlin's name.....Sparky or short circuit?

I was going to meet up with him in Port St Joe or Apalachicola. That gremlin's name was Chuck.

As in Ground Chuck. It sounded like a real bitchnuts one. The kind that drive you nuts because everything works when you are troubleshooting but jump up when you need your equipment. A little disappointment from a canceled trip can keep you safe for many more to come. He made the right call to take it back home and find that gremlin. I hope to catch him on his next trip or when we head his way.

My Gremlin

I'm pretty sure my gremlin is on the ground side, as it acts the same on both battery banks. All sorts of strange and nutty things. At first it would only click the solenoid, then would do nothing, then next time it would crank over fine. Kept tracing stuff, and figured it was the starter button which was faulty. Wired around the start button, using the start function on the ignition switch, and it worked perfect for a couple days, then back to the same ol thing. Voltage would read fully charged one time, 3 to 6 volts next time, measued at the starter. Inverter would not run with batteries fully charged, then next morning, after running lights all night, would be fine. List goes on. Gonna get serious about finding it this weekend, and will post up what I do or don't find.

I would check all positive and ground connections at the area where its going into the lug....that seems to be a weak point if there not heat shrinked, mine seem to have gotten ugly looking and on my to do list is new lugs and heat shrink
