Mast went up yesterday

Had my mast stepped for the season yesterday. A friend and I motored up to South Freeport where it was being stored indoors.

We also did a short haul to clean/inspect the bottom. We cleaned old bottom paint off the Maxprop, cleaned up the waterline with On/Off, pressure washed the hull, replaced zincs and checked for any problems. This is the first haul since the survey last August.

The 2 coats of Interlux Ultra that was applied 1/10 is holding up nicely.

Just have to install the boom and bend on the sails and I am sailing again.:dance:

am i to assume that the term BEND ON THE SAILS comes from haveing to bend the bronze attaching hardware on the wire stay??????

Tim R, Read you post with interest and then decided I needed some On&Off which I think was also recommended by MS. So I go to West Marine and search for On&Off and got back three different kinds, West Marine, Sea Brite and Mary Kate. All were the same price -so which one did you use and is there any difference for when I stop by and they have a selection.

I have only used Marykate so I cannot comment on those others.

They all work and do the same, so does oxalic acid, but, if you can, go for the On & Off Gel. It's a lot less drippy & runny..

Thanks for not mentioning this "friend" dropped one of your clevis pins into the drink...:D

You're a forgiving guy Tim. He throws your hardware overboard and he is still your friend. Maybe that's just until he sends the pictures. Hope "he" does, would like to see those.

I think he said "in the drink". Those gotta be good pictures. I betcha it's a lot colder today without the greenhouse effect.

Yes it is, until I get the bimini and full enclosure back up! Until then, the Basil Haden keeps us warm:dance:

From my perspective, most clevis pins is innately suicidal, throwing themselves overboard like stainless steel lemmings and convincing the ring-dings and cotter pins to follow. They are an evil lot. I don't think it's MS's fault at all. At worst, he was swept up by the moment.

So Tim, why So. Freeport? Isn't there somebody closer?

There is but no one I trust. And they have indoor mast storage.

I feel it is a good idea to establish a good trust relationship with a yard. This can pay in the long run. S. Freeport is a natural hurricane hole and Brewers has a great staff that is always helpful and pleasant to work with. They know I DIY and respect that.
