My 31' slip was $4995 for the year. It includes year round use (bubbler system in the winter), use of the casino-hotel pool, gym, etc. (can even call room service and they'll deliver it to the dock), cable, telephone, WiFi, water, metered electricity (I've never paid more than $35 for the whole year and we are almost liveaboard in the summer). In the winter they also allow us to choose any slip we want if we are staying so we can move to a more protected area in the marina. We have 24hr access to showers/restrooms, the hotel restaurants/clubs and every slip-holder gets 2 passes to the in-water boat shows (unfortunately some of the slip holders are contractually obligated to vacate for the show time period---usually 5 days).
It is a nice marina and the prices are comparable to other larger marinas in the area and most don't have the same amenities. Unfortualtely, there are no boat removal, storage or maintenance facilities so to pull the boat it can become a pain in the butt process.
By Golly, the cost of living is high where you boat.
I have a yacht club slip on a new-new concrete dock, power and water included, with floating clubhouse and bbq access....
while I do have to put in a min. of 12 work hours a year (a no brainer, that -- I have never worked that few hours yet), I pay a tad over $1700. a year. for
everything. That's membership, moorage, utilities, and all fees.
Private (and often corporate-owned) marinas in the area charge about 70% more money.
I would agree with the original poster and other forumites about the futility of wanting them to breakout the cost of power and refund it. Unless they are running a high vacancy rate and worry that you'll go elsewhere, it's just not going to happen.
A bit frustrating, but sometimes that's just the way it is.
OTOH, we sail on a fresh water river with current where the venue is at most a half mile wide. How's your sailing area?? Maybe that makes up for the $$. (?)
