Painting an alternator

I did Mainsail's Leece Neville alternator upgrade 2 season's back and it's starting to show signs of rust. Are there any precautions I should be concerned with if I spray paint it to match my M25XP?

You'd be best to not paint the windings of wire inside. You can stuff tape in there or pull the case apart and paint it alone. You'll want t high heat paint..
