I have a trip to New York City at the end of May and was just wondering if there are any interesting sail related things to do or see in the city. Not really looking to get out on the water but are there any good maritime museums or ships to tour?

Maritime, but not sailing related: http://www.intrepidmuseum.org
fun place to have a beer or 6: http://www.fryingpan.com/
a ride on the Staten Island ferry is free, and will give you a decent view of the Statue of Liberty

CalebD on here can probably give some good advice, I beleive he lives in Manhatten.

The South Street Seaport musuem is a good place to go. It has been steadily shrinking, but it still has the lynchpin of its collection, the windjammer "Wavertree". At one point they had a fishing schooner the "Lettie G." too.

If you can get in, the NY Yacht Club is reputed to be an absolutely incredible place that puts just about every sailing museum to shame. I heard at one point that the clubhouse is available for events, so if you were to pretend to be interested in booking a function.....
