1 existing install of wc 151 has vented loop between pump and bowl. Necessary?

2 sea water intake is teed into sink drain. Seems good in that you can occasionally close seacock, fill sink with fresh water and draw this fresh water... As opposed to seawater water.
Any drawbacks?

3 whatcha your opinion of tecma silence compact made in italy? Comparison to rarity marine elegance?

I was about to say, "yes if toilet bowl is at or below the waterline"...then I read your second question. When the head intake line is teed into the sink drain, the sink drain works as a siphon break, so no intake vented loop is needed.

None...only advantages. In addition to providing a safe source of fresh water to rinse the sea water out of the WHOLE system before the boat sits, it comes in handy for winterizing too...pour the antifreeze down the sink.

The Tecma is an outstanding toilet...the "gold standard" that every other mfr tried to clone...including Raritan with their Atlantes "Freedom." With the Elegance, Raritan improves on the Tecma (and their own Atlantes too!) considerably IMO...more flush options, MUCH quieter, uses less power, and less expensive. And Practical Sailor agrees...they just rated it "Best of Show" in a test of over a dozen electric macerating toilets in their February issue.

Peggy - In this case the "effective" vented loop (siphon break) is before the pump, and not between the pump and bowl. Does this run the risk of the pulling in air? or does that depend on where the "T" is in relation to the water line?

Good catch! It is necessary to put a plug in the sink to flush the toilet. In fact, you'll prob'ly want to keep the sink plugged except when in use, at least when underway, 'cuz under certain conditions the effect known as "ram water" (water forced up an open thru-hull by the pressure of the water against the hull while underway) can turn the sink into a fountain. Keeping it plugged is not big deal, 'cuz very few people have figured out how to use the sink and the toilet at the same time.
