Just got email from Zee, she says that they are only expecting about 2 ft , SD is out of the Japanese current, but north could get some. She is around Downwind Marine 92106.

ok folks-- nothing to report--mebbe a slight difference in current -- but no surge or wave or anything-- my crew is disappointed at not being able to see anything-- had camera ready ... i heard santa cruuz was devastated. ouch i hope no one here lost anything andi hope those who did were well insured... i was told it looked very bad. catalina was also no big deal--my source in avalon said was just like mid tide.. sounded relieved....lajolla had a surf that removed the beach from low tide-- covering it completely-- nothing more than that here...so-- we all still alive...

oh,, and signalZ s are bad today--i believe is governmentally induced-- so if anyone is not able to get with family or frinds-- be patient-- signalz are not good today.

Zee, glad to see you're not in danger which bring up a question. If given enough warning would it be wiser to head out to sea if and when something like this occurs? Seams to me you'd be better off in deep water.
Prayers to all that have been affected. This is a terrible tragedy.

deep water is better than shallow, at sea is better than in port. the tsunami wave is not felt at sea--is a fast moving wave---any deep water coming my way i would much rather face in a depth worthy of prevention of tall boxy destructive breaking seas....(deeper the better, i think...)

Lots of boat damage in Santa Cruz!!! LOTS. In the beginning it looked like multiple power boats drifting and smacking one sailboat after the other.....particularly the side ties. Last I saw was a mast sideways stuck under a tressle and the very nice looking large sailboat was stuck sidways. What an aweful site. Sad too is reading that there was "minimal damage" when it is obvious it is not minimal to lots of boat owners.
Cresent City just south of the Orgeon border really was hit hard.

The video at that link is different now - very dramatic footage of the wave plowing down a line of slips, sending boats flying like bowling pins.

nasty stuff--i hope everyone is accounted for and that insurance premiums were up to date.........

Mission Bay had a small surge this morning, according to the Marina office... they're not too concerned. When I first heard the news myurge was to drive down and pull off anything valuable...heh, heh.... but then it takes 1.5 hours to drive down and if there was any danger we wouldn't be allowed in the area anyway.. so I went back to work.

I hate seeing boats getting beat up. Something about that really bothers me (I guess I feel for the owners).

What a horrible event. I definitely wouldn't want to be anywhere near a dock when that sucker came through. I think that I would have to head out somewhere and at least be away from any obstructions and take it head on. Wow...that is nasty stuff!
