Doesn't sound as though you know a lot about this blisteriing stuff or have the confidence for a DIY repair. Therefore, RUN! A professional yard repair will end up costing far more than the market value of the boat. And that is just the beginning of your problems and expenses.

Attached a photo taken of my 2008 Hunter blisters. It is in the process of being repaired at the Hunter dealer under warranty. He informed me yesterday that they have already sanded down the affected area and will be applying the epoxy when the weather turns warmer. Interestingly there was a 2008 Hunter right across from me that also had blisters that the yard repaired - couldn't see any evidence of blisters after repair (Just thought I'd post this because the blisters look a lot like the ones in the OP's picture).

How do you know whether your Hunter is getting a proper repair or a quick and dirty "get it to the end of the warranty" repair ? Have you gotten advice from a qualified third party ?
Actually had another yard look at it. They wanted to peel the gelcoat down and reapply new gelcoat..after all was tallied up for the new gelcoat, epoxy barrier coat, etc. the price was over 15K. I talked to Hunter about it and they recommended sanding or drilling the pimples and applying epoxy...the method the Hunter dealer is doing. Is it the right way to do it? Don't know but the dealer has a pretty good reputation (Racine Riverside, WI) so I'm hoping this will be a lasting repair.
Based on my fairly intensive reading on the subject, that seems to be recommended method to deal with cosmetic blisters. My problem is if there are thousands, like the Ericson, it would be very tedious and time consuming to do them individually.
That's what I thought too when Hunter told me that drilling them out was the method they recommended. I probably have several hundred pimples. The yard is sanding them out instead of drilling and then epoxying over the areas where the pimples were..so this may be an alternative to drilling them out if they're not too deep in your case. The repair to the Hunter next too mine was done the same way and you can't see any evidence of blisters (he spent last year in the water after the repair).

Will Hunter or boatyard warrant the repair? If Hunter recommended this yard or approved the method, seems they should, though they will likely say it's yard's problem.

Thanks for the responses. To complete the saga, I ran, sort of. Told the owner he would have to lower price at least extra $3000 for me to consider it. He offered $2K less. He ended up selling it on Ebay -- using 11 year old pictures of the boat (!!) and got $150 more than I offered, so my valuation was, if anything high, based on actual condition. I think he and I are both happy with outcome. Just hope the buyer is also.
