While reviewing my Capri 22 registration for NH 2011, I noticed that the manufacturer was changed from "CATA" to "CAPR" on the formal registration form. Much more serious, the type of boat was changed from "SAIL" to "OUTB".

Needless to say, my pride was hurt so I went back to the registrar to correct the apparent mistake. This is what has happened. During the past year, NH DOT changed databases and now the registrar clerk cannot override any preselections. MIC of "CPS" is not longer associated with Catalina, but with Capri - a "Capri" of a different form.

I did call the State Office in Concord NH to see how to straighten this out. It seems that they are well aware that the new database they are using is "less than perfect". If you are registering a boat in NH this year, you should double check the copy when you receive it.

Later this week I will journey there bringing my evidence including a printout from the USCG database properly identifying a MIC of "CPS" as a Catalina Capri SAILboat!

It does get me to feel closer to my "Ophelia" in these last days of winter.

"Less than perfect" seems to be our new motto. Sadly I can't remember when we were "First in the Nation" at anything.
