I successfully hooked up my old Datamarine transducer to a new Raymarine ST40 Depthsounder unit!
On my 1979 C&C 29, I had a 35 yr old Datamarine depthsounder transducer (thru-hull) and D/S unit installed. The transducer worked but not the unit, the LCD screen was blown. I did some research and saw where MaineSail and others said that they are compatible, so I bought a used Raymarine ST40 unit on eBay for $90 and installed it. You have to do some "finaggling" to connect the power cables (to the red & gray pins, not the yellow) and the transducer cables, but once all was set up, I flipped the power on and it whirred to life and is giving me accurate readings! Researched showed that both units and transducer are 200kz, so that's why they work.
