Eianm: A friend of mine just got an entire new rig for a 376 $1600. Seco South in Florida.

You do realize that this was not including the labor to do the actual rigging/tuning.

Eian, I just replaced all of my 1990 Passage 42 standing rigging four months ago. Seco South replaced every single stay and shroud on the boat, including my inner forestay. Included were all turnbuckles and terminal fittings. I had a few Norseman fittings (inner forestay, top of forestay, and insulators/bottom fitting on backstay), but the price of cones was almost the same as swages. The total cost (excepting the $120 USD shipping to Ventura, California) was $2,016 USD.

While I was happy with their work and their price, be careful with the measurements. The sizing on the new turnbuckles is different than the older ones, and it turned out that the reverse diagonals on the bottom (now called R2's, I think) were too long. No biggie, since they're not structural, so I used my (ten-year) old ones again for that part of the rig.

Seco South also did all of my lifelines for about $400. The best way to ensure proper measurements would be to send them your old rigging and have it duplicated. Even so, when I did that with my lifelines, one of the pieces was exactly 12 inches short. Rather than make an issue of it I just had a local cut and re-swage it for $20 USD.

As an aside, good on ya' for tricking out your boat so much. Thanks for the photos of the toilet install. I'll be offline in about two weeks, when we depart for the coconut milk run. But on board (online here) until then.

Good luck,

Paul.

Leaving Newport Beach, California to Marquesas, to Tuamotus, then possibly somewhere in the Southern Cooks, then Beveridge Reef, then Tongatapu, then Minerva Reef, then NZ. We have to solidify our permanent residency in NZ by spending 185 days there per year for the next two years.

Eianm,

All total with shipping, it was $1,744 from Florida to Northern California.

MAKE SURE you tell them NOT to put on one of the forestay swedges if you have roller furling. Just have them include it in the box for the rigger to install. Most of the furlers will not fit over the swedge fittings.

thank you Gary- much appreciated. Did you have a local rigger do the install and tensioning? What did he charge?
