I use Jamestown Dist, they seem to have comp prices. Best is I joined their exclusive buyer group, $36 a year I think it was everthing free shipping for the year. I was repowering and bought a ton of stuff. If I ordered something around lunch or b-4 I was getting it the next day most of the time.Returns no problem....Red

Typically the prices are very similar at HD & Lowe's or they carry a different brand/model.

The problem that I see is when you see something in a catalog for $150 but the exact same thing is at WM for $220. Personally I am not going to drive all over town to save $5 but will probably drive a distance to save $50 or $100.

PS: I don't chase grocery sales either! <g>

I understand completely. What baffles me is why venting here over WM's marketing is such a predictable and recurring event. I'm not sure what a realistic expectation is given no one else has created a viable brick and mortar alternative which is convenient to get into in most major metro areas.

Consistancy (that is good) <g>

If we did not have this to bitch about what would there be?

tossed my catalog right in the trash. Waste of paper.

Defender, Hamilton & SBO are where I shop mostly.

Good question. We have both been here long enough to see some consistency in the complaint department but it would be interesting (too much free time) to know what we complain about the most often. My guess is anchors, everything related to the head, cleaning/painting/waxing, power boaters, electrical mysteries... What we need are more WM threads.

Ok then my turn,
I do take a little insult to the price match thing but then again i would be researching on the net anyway to find the best price. The only difference would be i would order from someplace else instead of going to West. However, i like the fellow that runs the WM in Havre De Grace and he has helped me with plenty of info at no cost, even directed us to other places if he didn't have what we needed and we wanted it now.
Person to person assistance is a good thing and worth a little extra now and then. That being said we Don't shop there for everything but do feel that if i am going to pick his brain for info then he deserves some business in return.

Happy shopping where ever you spend.

I read it wrong...

I missed that Syms is the retailer...that IS their slogan.

I'm surprised they're still around...they opened a store in Atlanta years ago and apparently not enough consumers were well educated enough to shop there...'cuz they didn't last long.

Well, the chart plotter I bought day before yesterday won't boot up, It's broken right out of the box so after a teleconference with the manufacturer I was told to take it back to WM. I took it back today and I'll have new one tomorrow morning. Everyone was helpful and friendly and so I can't really bitch too much about WM. Had I bought it over the Internet I would be having to box it up and ship it back and no telling how long before receiving a new one. There is something to be said for doing business locally.
