I am so stoked. My son-in-law installed the carpet in the C-27 tonight. All of the electrical is done cushions are in and leaks sealed, ready to launch.
He makes the carpet laying look easy, although he struggled initially with the tight quarters. The original carpet was held in place with snaps, but this has a stiff backing on it and does not appear to need anything to keep it from moving. Really helpful is the ability to just lift and pull back the carpet to get to the bilge. He suggest binding edges with Elmers glue but I have some fabric glue that sticks like crazy and is water proof. He said to just brush it on the edge to keep the weave from unraveling. He also did the starboard aft berth as well. I was able to find carpet at Lowes that was 15' wide. I asked for one yard but I know they always cut it wider. Just to be on the safer side I asked the cutter to cut it at least 40''. He accommodated with 48" and only charged me for 1 yd. This gave me enough to do the sole and aft berth.
I post some of the installation at youtube.

What's the trick for getting to the log impeller and avoiding the 12" high by 2" diameter instantaneous sea water fountain jet it creates?
Been wanting to fit carpet for years but dare not due to the above. On my mooring I need to clean my impeller weekly or every time we sail.

I would assume quick hands with the plug. My meter was broken when I bought the boat so I cut the wires and left it in place. It was never nearly as accurate as the GPS on my other boat and never used it. The GPS is much more convenient.

Tip: Now put some on the cabin ladder steps.

Good idea, it will look better than the usual non-slip. I think I will route the steps to give it a nice finished look.

Carpet for Catalina 27

Nice looking carpet job. I did the same thing when I had my Catalina 30. I never had any snaps or glue to hold it down either and never had a problem. After I cut the rug to fit the cabin I took it to the local carpet guy and he sewed an edge on all the way around.
Good luck with the launch.
