I have found a Oday 39 that I think I would like to own. I have found only one owner who has commented on blisters. His Oday is 25 years old and has no blistering. Is this common with the Oday line of sailboats?
Thanks SonnyI had one from the 70s, an 84 and an 87. The older ones had no blisters or signs of ever having blisters. The 87 had a ring of dime-sized blisters all the way around her, within about a foot of the waterline. However, the 87 had been left in fresh water without a haulout for close to 10 years. I don't hear too much about blistering being a huge problem with O'Days as it is with other brands. Those 39s are pretty boats.
Thanks SonnyI had a 1979 ODay 30. I had to have 2 blister jobs done on it. Last one was 5 years ago after 10 years on bottom. It was nearly $9,000 for a complete peel and new bottom. I have head a lot of this style era boats from ODay had blister problems. The 39 I believe was made by Jeneau.? Nothing bad about them on the Oday site. There is an ODay owners site other than this one. they are very active and would be of help in your decision.
