If you can get the part number and google it and/or do an ebay search you will be surprised what may turn up. Many internal engine parts are interchangeabe.

Take the rod in your hands to a Kubota Tractor dealer at a time when they are not busy... DO NOT tell them that it is from a marine engine ! Tell them that it is an old tractor that you are helping to restore and you don't have a model number. Ask them very nicely if they could match the rod and give you the model number so you can buy gaskets and bearings etc..
DO buy your parts from them.

Good idea but also have the engine block serial number as most of the Kubota dealers need this to reference parts. And for the record, my Kubota dealer was always happy to provide parts for my marinized engine. A sale is a sale.

Many of the marinizing companies cut deals with the engine manufacturers that no parts for a marinized engine would come from the manufacturer.. The one I have experience with is Mitsubishi diesel tractor engines marinized and sold as Westerbeke.. The parts were twice as expensive from them versus the identical parts from Mitsu that we used.. The Mitsu parts guys in the D.C./Annapolis area were well aware of the restrictions and were honoring them.

I just figured out what my 44B Four was, which is an SL42 Mitsubishi, and ordered a $34.00 parts catalog from Kraft Power in GA. I just tell the them that I bought a home built wood chipper and this engine was on it...:doh:Never had a problem getting parts for my Westerbeke at a big discount despite Westebeke's efforts to "contract" with Mitsubishi and pork me.;)
