I find most sailing videos boring and usually bail after about 5 minutes but I watched the whole hour of this one and enjoyed every minute:

Roger, I lost the romantic appeal of this video when they went to Ft. Lauderdale and used another persons boat and equipment without permission to step their mast and then felt that it was alright to move aboard since it was more luxurious than their boat and the owner was absent. Having lived aboard for ten years, we had a term for people like that: BUMS. Best, Ron
My enjoyment of the video is not necessarily a value judgment on either their honesty or their seamanship.
I would have to agree...the integrity of these young folks was severly compromised with some of the decisions they made. :naughty: All in all it was very entertaining and quite a flight of faith in many ways. I did enjoy most all of it. I think the young man has alot of talent in writing and naration alone Too bad they stooped to the level of stealing lumber and such. Would have been much more adventurous to work a little on the side to get what they needed. Would have learned much about respect as well.

Jimmy, We live in a world of entitlements where ethics, morality, and honesty are only words on a page. These young people are not to be admired for their thievery or dishonesty when others have accomplished the same or greater by hard work and resoucefulness. The filmmakers literary/artistic talents are no excuse for their actions. They believed they were entitled and entitled at any cost. To give them or their video credence is to buy into their peverse and tainted view of life. Why not celebrate those who have done it the right way and condemn these cheaters to their rightful place among the lowly. Best, Ron P.S. where in my post did I CELEBRATE anything. I said I was entertained. How many distasteful or disgustingly violent Hollywood movies have you viewed as entertaining or walked out of in theaters, truethfully how many. I stated my dislike for their actions with nooo doubt left on the page. Once with my opening statment, again at the end and even offered them an alternative. I mean Jeez, I copied your post to agree with you for the most part. If you cant read that clearly enough please, let me explain it to you again. I call it as I see it and if I see a hint of talent I will give credit for that. I was implying that the lad seems to have skills to EARN a liviing with rather than conduct himself in the manner displayed in the video. And as I saw it the $10.00 documentary was, ASIDE FROM THE OBVIOUS CHARACTER FLAWS much MORE entertaining than alot of the crap coming from Hollyood. I personally dont go to movies, rent movies anymore because the actors and producers in those films are much more corrupt and cause far more collateral damage in the end yet almost everyone is willinng to ignore that fact. What was more offensive to me than the 4 sailors were the enabler who offered the information about the dingy lift and the guardian of the boat who encourage the actions to begin with. I make no attempt in my post to excuse anyone or condone steeling. Please re-read and be more careful in your claims of me glorifying ANYONES bad behavior.
Sorry- but I have protected my integrity at great personal cost in life and dont want anyone here to think I am agreeable to these kinds of actions. These kids need some guidance, maybe someone near to them could change the course for them. If not surely life will.
