Trailer that Mac to Beaufort. If the conditions are calm enough, and you carry enough gas, you can crank up that big OB, and be in Charleston by happy hour of the FIRST day. (Of course, to be a sailboat, you must fly, at least, a small reefed jib, as you "motor sail" at 20kts).
You'd get "line honors" and probably be the only Mac to ever compete in (and win) an offshore cruising rally.
Or, if something happens, you'd (hopefully) have the "cavalry" ... uh, the rest of us ... eventually coming to your rescue.
And then, there's always the Coast Guard who might just do a near shore SAR for you. Think of it, even 'worse case scenario', you'd get a helicopter ride, make the news, and (maybe) be able to collect on your boat insurance....
And then, the book ... the possibilities are endless.
