I am wondering if anyone has replaced the molded plastic (or fiberglass) sink in an Oday 23 (Mark 2)? It doesn't drain well and looks cheesy. I would like to put in a stainless steel sink, similar to the one used in the sliding galley located aft. Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions.

I replaced one in my 1986 O'Day 222 a few years ago with a stainless steel sink that I ordered over the web from a place in Muskogee Oklahoma. I think I paid about $50 brand new for the sink. The RV stores in my area want $80 for the same sink. That molded fiberglass sink that was in my boat was really starting to look hideous. I think I wound up giving it to someone. Going from a 2" strainer basket drain to the 5/8" hose was a challenge but I went to Lowe's and talked to a guy in there who was very knowledgeable about plumbing and he fixed me up with the PVC fittings that were needed. For the stove to sit on, I used a steam table pan commonly sold in restaurant supply stores. I screwed it to the cabinet. I even moved the faucet to the other side of the sink so I could avoid getting burnt by my stove top oven.
It can be done very easy. It just takes a little planning and figuring. I was able to gain some space under my stove that I never had before. Now, I store my pots and pans under the stove.
Don't be afraid to make some changes in your galley. Just go for it.
