Did you get down the coast to Tillamook to sample their cheeses or get out to the coast to look for agates on the beach. Did you stop at The Bridge of the Gods on the Columbia River? Did you go to Morrow, Oregon? It is just a little south of Arlington Oregon. It is hard to go to Morrow because you have to start yesterday. ;) You must go through Condon on the same day you go to Morrow and along the way you will go through Fossil, Oregon.

No Ross we didn't get into Oregon at all. Maybe next trip since Butch has children living in
Washington State. Sounds like a lot of sightseeing there.

Abby, To be able to get the best views of the land you must leave the Interstate Highways and take the state roads to the town named on the exit signs. Nancy and I often take a day and drive to an area where we haven't been before and get the maps for the county roads. Sometimes we will take an entire day to cover just a hundred miles because we stop at the little local parks and history points of interest. We often spend as much time walking as we do driving. We have only a vague distination in mind when we start out and it doesn't matter if we get there or someplace else.

Yes, we do that too. Buthch and I drove a day out of the way to get to Colorado Springs to visit Garden of the Gods but it was well worth it. Looks like something where they made many of the old western movies. Breathtaking! We use a GPS to steer us in the right direction sometimes. Someone told us there was some beautiful scenery somewhere in Idaho that was out of the way but we didn't take it.

I used to call those days "brown sign excursions" where you stop for every historic site.

We like to explore and find our own points of interest. We tend to avoid tourist attractions.
