I'm a newer owner of an Oday 25. The boat came with a 5hp Nissan 4 stroke outboard. I've noticed some flexing in the transcom while motoring. I would like to reinforce the transcom. Has anyone done this type of project? If so, what materials did you use to do it and do you have any before and after pics of the project?

Check out the "How Tos" and videos on this site. http://www.jamestowndistributors.co...e=adwords!6456&keyword=fiberglass_boat_repair

Also, Ship Shape TV which was hosted by John Greviskis used to have recorded segments on DVDs on Fiberglass repair.
I would imagine that you would need to get inside the area of the inside transom and grind out the inside to remove any rotted core. This calls for the right breathing equipment as well as the protective suit. I would apply a good grade of synthetic core with a top quality Fiberglass epoxy. I know that there has been some guys on the forum who have had to do this very same thing to their O'Day 25s a couple of years ago. One guy in particular was out on the water a couple of years ago with his family aboard his O'Day 25. He started his four stroke outboard and accelerated it a little more than usual and the torque from the engine stove the transom in. Fortunately, the big hole it made was above the waterline or his boat would have probably sunk. Get as much info as you can on this repair so that you can get it right the first time and never have to worry about it again.
