Undoubtably a newbie question here...

What is the purpose of the fittings indicated by the square and cirlce of photo?

The square was most likely the original jib sheet lead block, replaced by the one on the gunwale, or it could be an inboard fairlead (used more for going upwind) while the outer one is for broad reaching and running.

The other one looks like the base for a bimini.

Yes. One of each on both sides. I've never seen an Oday 22 with a bimini, but then, I;ve never really looked either.

The square box appears to be a block for wire rope, or at lease very small diameter line.... it also seems to line up with the scupper like oppening in the toe rail... when you stand it upright, rotate it around to look for a likely direction it would direct a line...

It could be a control line for the roller furler, perhaps.

Here is a close-up. It's not a conventional pulley. It's free turning, but I think its alignment with the opening in the tow rail is a coincidence.

Well....... thanks for the close up. That is the wierdesl looking sheave... it doesn't appear compatible with any type of line... or perhaps it's just become detioriated and thus non-functional. Another thought is that it could be a tension strap connector for the bimini.

Also consider that the base and the block appear inseparable, so it could be a specialized part for an appliance such as a bimini.

If you can't determine its use after a while, I'd remove it. It's in a walkway, you could step on it..... and .... it's ugly.

OK...I've think I've got it figured out, with a little help from my friends

The Circle is for a the post of a long lost Bimini.

The square, I've decided, is the original block for the jib sheet, once worn out someone later added the current jib car and track.

In looking at pictures of original Oday 22s, they all have this jib block in the same location and no jib car/track.

Well, that makes it official - I now know what all the sheaves, blocks, lines, cleats and cables are for.
