On my H33 (1982) I have a dual fawcet with a tread in between for the shower cord and attachment at the end ( shower)
My fawcets are so rusty I want to replace them, but I cannot read their make or any info that could help me
They work well, but they are ugly
Where do I find them , and what is the criteria to match them?
What do I measure
Thanks
Jorge

I took the shower out of the head area and use an outside shower in the cockpit. Without the shower attachment the faucet is the same as a bathroom faucet. Easy to find and replace.

You can also find replacements at any RV store, for surprisingly less than marine stores.

The local West Marine in Sausalito Ca is clearing out old faucets. They have a shower diverter faucet that looks like it would be an exact fit for the one on my 1980 Cherubini Hunter 36. Price is real good == about $7. They are white finished. These models are not in their current catalogue.

Maybe if you could call them, get their eMail address, and then send them a pic of yours, they/you could see if its a go for your needs.

Their tel number is: 415 332 0202.

Jorge:

Re my last post: Better yet, post a picture of your faucet on this thread. If it looks like the one I've seen at the Sausalito West Marine, I will let you know. Then you can call them. West Marine locations are usually pretty good at sending out their stuff to your local WM for your pick-up, or directly to you. Several years ago in Sausalito they were closing out an item I wanted for 20% the list price. They only had one. I wanted several. But around the country, the WM central computer revealed that various stores had a dozen or so. The Sausalito WM arranged for the other WM's to send some of their excess to California for me to buy. WM has its detractors (as do we all) (and mainly its because of price), but for customer service, I've found that they are great almost every time.

Thank you Rardi!
I will get my neighbor, who lives in his H33 (1979) to take a picture of mine
I will then send it to you, as I have still not figured out how to do it
Thanks

Jorge:

I was in my nearby West Marine today and way up top of their plumbing section they had a faucet that is a dead ringer for the picture of yours you eMailed me. Two threaded "pipes" extend down from the base for attaching the hot and cold water. They are 4" apart on center (actually I measured 4 1/16" but probably one of the pipes is tilted a bit).

It’s a discontinued item. They only had one. I put it hold under the name Jorge. Price is $25.99. The WestMarine Sausalito telephone number is 415 332 0202. Give them a call (or not). In any case, let me know so I can release the hold if you don’t go for it.

rardi

Thank you Richard,
I phoned the Sausalito store and paid over the phone with my credit card
They said they will ship tomorrow
Great job, thanks
I am now the proud owner of a new fawcet for the head basin!
Small things please small minds, you may think, but that is the nature of the beast: very happy indeed
I hope I can be of service one day

Re: Toilet basin faucets

The plated plastic faucets with the on-top shower-hose attachment were bought from Indiana Trailer Supply in the '70s. We used them on C44s too-- only in the (optional) forward head of course-- having called Hunter to find out where they bought them. They are/were junk and looked too cheap for the boat.

I would search some higher-end makers for something nice. Scandvik make one that will do this function; also, I think King Marine do one (imported but tends to be rather nice). I would investigate Whale (though theirs is only white) and Fynspray as well.

BTW I made the 'shower' in Diana (an H25) using a Sunshower bag, a through-deck attachment fitted with quick-attach garden-hose connectors, and a standard marine white plastic 'telephone' shower head and hose. I also bought a 'replacement' 8" gooseneck bar-sink faucet (just the faucet pipe) for the galley, installed it right through the Formica countertop by itself, and hooked it up to the foot pump under the counter. It sort of matches the through-counter liquid-soap dispenser next to it. If you look, and leave your mind open to creative and sometime-surprising suggestions, you can amaze yourself.

Hi there Rardi
Installed today the fawcets, they fit perfectly
One question, since it does not state on the label: what is the round piece in the middle?
Is that the diverter for the shower attachment?
My shower does not fit in it, I will look around and see if I caan find one, or else install an attachment
Curious about the middle piece, hardly moves

Hi Jorge:

Hope the new faucet restores the new look to your head sink area.

My boat has a dedicated shower faucet, separate from the sink. It looks exacty the same as yours does in style, except it doesn't have a sink spout, nor the diverter selector. So I can't say for certain how the round knob in the middle works. Isn't it like the same as your old one? My guess is that to divert to the shower fitting, you open the faucet valves to start the water flow into the sink then pull up on the round knob which diverts the water flow instead to into the shower fitting. I can't say about why hose for the shower doesn't thread in. My flexible hose to the shower head is covered with a metal coil ... definitely different than the tan plastic one in your picture. Maybe you can find an adapter at the plumbing department of you local hardware store.

Happy July 5 Holiday Monday.
Richard

Silly me, never tested what the white button is for, after I installed the fawcet
Looks great, though; I will try get an adapter for the shower, should not be too difficult
Regarding my water pump, after I sprayed it with contact spray, the breaker switch now works fine, but the pump still pulses when the fawcet is turned off.
I phoned Shurflo and gave them my model number (225-3000) and they said it is over 20 years old, and it could be a switch inside the pump.
I can live with it for now; they gave me compatible models that replace it, and I think it was Steve Dion who suggested a Jabsco
I will look at all, and keep my eyes peeled if someone comes up somewhere for sale
Thank you all for helping
Jorge

Shower for your head

I too had a rough time figuring out our shower in the head of our 1978 - 33' boat. I was even thinking of making a kit of it but here are the details.
I used a quick-disconnect from a dish washer and attached it directly to the threads on the faucet where an aireator would go. The mating connector for it goes on the end of a hand held shower head of your choosing. Attach a holder for the shower head to the back bulkhead with screqw and epoxy and you are done.
I added new rollers for the curtain and a new fabric curtain and my wife could not be happier. She uses this every day.
Sure you have to hook up the hose but it is simple to do and un-do, and the male connector on the faucet allows free-flowing water to the basin.
Stay tuned as I will share this in the Cherubini Modifications section as soon as I get the basin and vanity done.
I am installing plywood and formica directly over the existing plastic vanity, and recessing a Japanese sink into it over where the existing sink is, then run my drain hose out thru the drain hole in the old molded-in sink and I have a new vanity with sink without any cutting, demolition or extensive modifications. And I still have use of the existing wood items on it now.
