I did indeed have my cell phone in my pocket. It had already been through the rinse cycle when I had a pale of water in the living room to wet sand my swim ladder while watching TV. After coming back in the living room following dinner I noticed one of the cats had knocked it off the sofa and into the bucket. I pulled the battery and let it dry for a couple days and it powered back up. This was not quite that harsh of a soaking.

Chiefiredog, I notice you live next to my favorite place while stationed at Robins AFB. I spent so much time at Lake Tobesofkee, you would have thought it my home.

Funny story! We have all had days like that. It could have been much worse, I caught my ring on the rail when I went overboard years ago and off came the finger. Consider yourself lucky, your ego will heal.

When I was in the Air Force they had us remove our wedding bands when getting in and out of Deuce and a Half. It may not be a bad idea when sailing. Had my wedding band snagged, I am sure that the finger would have been lost. It took the skin off into the meat.

if it makes you feel better

when i pulled my boat out last fall i slipped on some slime on the ramp dock and fell in between the dock and the boat into 50 degree water.

my hat floated off along with one of my crocs. my wife grabbed my arm and wouldn't let me go to get my shoe. she said she thought i might be knocked out. i told her if i was knocked out, i wouldn't be trying to get my shoe.

i managed to get my shoe and get the boat out although i was nearly frozen from the waste down. i went back the next day and recovered my hat, which was underwater, with a boat hook. luckily no one was around as it was a week day in october.
