I checked the blog and it mentioned a watermaker... just one more thing requiring electrons. It has been said that one man's gale is another's fresh breeze. I think the same could be said of our energy budgets. One man's electrical necessities are another's opulent extravagant.
Now how do they handle their fresh water budget? I'm thinking there are not that many rain showers in that part of the equator ocean and just a few fresh water sources on land.
I agree. I got tired of eating off plastic or paper a loooong time ago. Our old china came in handy, and we use some styrofoam and the plates themselves to keep them pretty well locked in to the cupboard. Stuff hasn't moved in years. Because the arrangement locks everything in, it also requires me to do ALL of the dishes and dry them and put them back before getting underway, or else they slap around! A place for everything and everything in its place sure applies here! You plan your dish cupboard very carefull to fit the dishes that will go into it. Pack paper plates between the plates as cushions...
BillI made ice once. took about 3 days to freeze once I found that "sweet spot" in the freezer. before you brand me it was only half a tray.
