Oil filter gasket failure

I think Maine Sail meant gaskets... not filters... fitting two filters on the engine would be a really neat trick. :D

I don't recall ever seeing a filter with a diameter bigger than the filter adapter. Another potential issue that I don't recall seeing mentioned is that when the filter was changed the old gasket stuck to the surface and you then had two filters on there..

LOL... sorry about that... :D

BTW, does painting the hoses hurt the rubber they're made of??? I'd imagine it doesn't but some say you shouldn't paint them. :D

I don't know but it is a HUGE peeve of mine when you spend 10k on an engine and they slap paint on it like it's a Waste Management dumpster... For 10 K I would expect them to at least use some masking tape:doh:

LOL...that is very true... and some of the engine paint jobs I've seen on new engines are far worse than what I've seen on dumpsters...
