I have a 1988 ODay 222 with a split masthead sheave. Where can I find replacment sheaves if D&R Marine does not have them? Looking for ideas.

You might try calling Rig-Rite. http://www.rigrite.com/index.htm and ask them if they have a metal pulley or mast head sheave that will fit your Z-Spar mast head. I would remove the pulley and get a measurement of it. The pin for your pulley is pressed in place, I think, and you may have to knock it out with a drift pin and hammer. Later on when you get the pulley, you'll have to use a stainless steel bolt and lock nut to use as a pin. The pulley should turn on the smooth part of the bolt which should be threaded at the end to receive the nut. In other words, the bolt needs to resemble a small axle. Have the dimensions of the pulley or mast sheave when you call. It they don't have metal, you'll probably have to settle for nylon. These are the same people that replaced my mast back in the early 1990s. They may be able to help you.

I just finished painting the bottom of my boat today and next week I'm going to get it back on the trailer. Our docks will be going in on May 1st, so I have plenty of time to get her ready for the splash.
On the mast sheave: I vaguely remember changing my sheave. I brought the old one to Rudy and we matched it up with something that he had in his store. You may need to use a Dremel Tool with a small grinding wheel to grind off the ridge of the sheave pin to get it out. I think that I also used a small cold chisel with a hammer to knock it off too. Then I used a drift pin to get it out. I may have had to enlarge the hole with my electric drill. I really don't recall. At any rate, if you get the right size sheave, a partially threaded stainless steel bolt with a lock nut, it will work just fine for a sheave pin. Good luck with that KC.

I would remove them George and take them somewhere to match them up. They need to be able to handle 5/16" halyard. You're going to need to drill out the rivets on the lower one. The mast head sheave is held in there with a pressed pin I think. When I replaced my mast head sheave I used a stainless steel bolt and lock nut in place of the pin as Rudy suggested. The bolt should be smooth for the pulley and have just enough threads to attach it to the mast head.
I bought a block with the sheave in it off Rudy for my Jib halyard and had to Mickey Mouse it to fit my mast which involved cutting out a slot in my mast with my Dremel Tool to fit the block into it. The two flanges on the block that fit on the mast, needed to be bent to conform to the shape of the mast. There are holes on the flanges for screws or rivets. Then I had to bore four holes in the mast and tap them for threads for the stainless steel machine screws to hold the block in place.
I would remove that cast Aluminum block and try to find a metal sheave that will fit it. Then you can rivet it back in place later. The Jib block on my mast looks a little "hacky" but I only use my Jib Halyard for raising my mast as the CDI has it's own halyard. Have fun with that George! I did.

Rudy told me to tell you to send him the old sheave and he'll match it up and send you a new one. He also has a Dwyer tang for your mast which is similar to the one that I installed on my mast when I bought my CDI Roller Furler. They come in two sizes and I have the longer one on my mast. You'll need to have a new fore stay made up with regular toggle fittings and toggle straps on both ends.
