Non Skid on molded deck

Hi
I recently bought an O'Day 20. The molded non skid on deck is slippery. Can you put new non skid like Tuff Coat over this? I am guessing you can because it adheres to fiberglass. Any suggestions?

Some guys use Silica sand mixed in epoxy paint for a non skid surface. Check out the book "This Old Boat" by Don Casey. On page 347 he claims that, " For secure footing, rubberized nonskid such as Treadmaster M is superior to any painted of molded nonskid surface I have ever encountered." "It even provides better footing than raw Teak." His books are probably at your local town library.

It wasn't too long ago that someone wrote an article about how to apply non-skid to a deck in one of my magazines. I want to say, "Small Craft Advisor" a few months ago, maybe. He demonstrates how to create a design using masking tape, Epoxy Paint, and Silica sand I think. Don Casey also wrote a book entitle "Sailboat Hull & Deck Repair." On page 51 of that book he shows you how to renew nonskid surface on the deck. Good luck!
