I'm doing this concerning my Dad's boat. I don't remember how to spell it. It's a 1967, 24 ft Norwegian boat. You can't find this boat anywhere. Last night we figured we'd go check on her since we hadn't in awhile. When we store her, We lay the fiberglass mast across the top of the boat and then put a cover over it. The mast hangs over the cockpit for about 5 ft but it never seemed to be a problem. We found last night that the mast had snapped from the weight of the snow from the recent blizzard. We don't think it can be repaired, and we probably need a new mast. Since we can't get one from this boat, we were thiunking we will most likely need ot get an aluminum mast just like everyone else. Maybe from a Catalina or O'day perhaps. We were both heartbroken to find her like this. Can anybody tell me where I might be able to find a mast for the boat? Or maybe a salvage yard that would point us in the right direction. We'd like to be able to put her in the water this summer.

We figured we'd have to do that anyway. In any situation we think we're gonna have to get a complelty different rig and make it work. Fixing that fiberglass mast would be a beautiful thing, but I just don't see it happening.
I agree whole heartedly with Ross. if the mast is constructed of FRP, it should be repairable in most cases and even an extensive repair is likely to be less expensive than replacement. You should consult a couple of experienced FRP repair techs with good references.
Voting for a repair too. How does the break look, clean or lots of bent and broken fragments? Cut away the damage and have someone make a sleeve that goes inside the mast, maybe a six or nine inch overlap(sleeve inside the mast) each end. Then glass the missing section over the sleeve. Of course this will take an FRP expert but certainly doable.
I do not know about fiberglass, but many aluminum masts are sleeved. This may be a method to repair the existing mast.

fiberglass is soo fixable-pix would aid the ideas coming forth---so there is a better idea of what is needed...diversified materials corp should have an online center for purchasing fiberglass cloth and resin in bulk quantities--they are in el cajon cali---see if you can find them on line....gooodluck.......
Where is your boat located? I know places in the Los Angeles, California area where masts can be purchased but shipping costs would be prohibitive. I have purchased a mast for a 22' Venture/MacGregor and switched all the fitting over. Its a chore.

Many large boat-yards often have used or leftover masts. If it was me, I'd try to find one the same length, or a bit longer and cut it down. Much of your old hardware would be reusable, and there would be usually be alot of hardware with the replacement mast anyway.
If all else fails there is a company called Dwyer Mast Co. that has all the spec's for any type mast or mast fitting and carry most.
