My new to me '82 H30 has a Mansfield Model 751 that needs a rebuild kit. I haven't tested it yet - but let's assume it does for now.

Previous threads indicate no parts are available any longer and that replacing the entire head is the option remaining - is that true? rebuild kits available anywhere?

If I do need to r/r the head - boat only gets light lake use for a weekend and daysails- what are good choices/options if I don't yet want to spend $300+ on a full up marine head - but better than a bucket.

Are the 'porta-potties' worth the money/effort?

Trying to not be 'penny wise & pound foolish' - don't let me do something silly here......

First************do not even think about a rebuild kit- not worth your money or your time

Second- is a pump-out station in your marina or near your marina.
If so- go with a Wilcox unit

If not- go with a small head that has a removeable tank- if you use the head lightly- this might be your best alternative.
I have a '79 Hunter 30 and the location gives you little space to work in

I'd suggest using the Raritan PH II conversion kit that re-uses your bowl with a new pump.. Sold on this site at a good price.

Definitely time for a new toilet...

The SeaLand 751/752 were discontinued more than 25 years ago...no parts have been available for at least 15 years. Jabsco had a "universal" rebuild kit that fit their own Brydon Boy (Canadian version of the Jabsco manual, discontinued early 80s), the 751 and 752 and--I THINK--a acouple of others...but they discontinued that 10 years ago. So, it's time for new toilet.

If a holding tank is installed, your best choice by far is the Raritan PHC "conversion" that allows you re-use your existing bowl, seat and lid, saving you a bunch of money. The online store here has it for an excellent price: sbo.com PHII PHC LBA

If the hoses are anywhere near the same age as your toilet, I strongly recommend you replace those as well...'cuz if they don't stink, they're likely to be so hard and brittle with age that you're just asking for trouble if you keep 'em.

If a holding tank is NOT installed, your least expensive option--and an acceptable one for your use--will prob'ly be the "MSD" version of a 5-6 gallon portapotty. "MSD" = designed to be permeantly installed and fitted for pumpout via a deck fitting. Thetford and SeaLand have good ones...and again, the sbo.com store will have excellent prices...in fact, on everything you need.sbo.com plumbing

Joe...fwiw, Thetford-Norcold discontinued the entire Wilcox Crittenden product line at the end 2008. The only W-C toilets still available from retailers are what's left of their inventory. Parts continue to be available, but mostly just rebuild kits, not much in the way of hardware. So a Wilcox toilet would not be a good investment...not that the Headmate was very good quality anyway.
