I am refinishing our cabin sole of our Hunter 34. The old one has some moisture problems, so I had to remove it and have cut out new pieces. Now it is time to finish them. I have read to seal the underside prior to installing to make the wood last longer (moisture coming up from bildge). What should I use to seal the underside? I have heard epoxy, but there seems to be a lot of different types of epoxy? Do I use penetrating epoxy like Git-rot? Would it be acceptable to just use a wood sealer similar to a good deck sealer?
I plan on finishing the tops with polyurethane. I did a test piece last night and it looks awesome. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the bottom.
I have attached a photo of the progress so far.
