Y25 Rudder post/ tiller, Updated...

Just Bought a 25 and no rudder or tiller. Need to fabricate and could use some pictures and advice. We have purchased some stock material and have had it machined and are currently working on the fiberglass .Need to see how the assembly is supported especially just under the deck and or at the skeg, where ever it is being supported we just cant figure out how the thing is attached so it does not drop out!
If any one could post pictures that might be enough to go on.
If you live in the San Francisco bay area perhaps we could come by and look at it?

Thanks!
Aaron

rudder help

HI. I have 25 MK II, if you still need any pics just let me know.
Could use some help, if you have pictures and or live in the San Francisco area need to see how the rudder post is attached and or bushing config. We are basically rebuilding a lost rudder assembly.
Thanks!

Hi, you could always try emailing this guy at Yamaha, I've been buying parts from him and he has access to the original spec drawings. I just bought new elbows for my holding tank from him along with a new upper rudder post bushing. The stuff isn't cheap but it is original and fits perfect.

I know the price for the bushing at the top of my rudder post was $660 but it was exactly the same as the original and took about two months or more to get. It fit with no mods and I like that!

His email address is:
suzukishige@yamaha-motor.co.jp

His English isn't so great and pictures help get the message across. I found him through Bob's website yamahasailboats.org

Good luck

Thank you!
I would like to see the inside of the boat. How does the rudder post attach to the boat?

Arron, my boat is out of the water right now, I'll do the rudder measurments for you. Ive attached the page out of the part manual I have- all discriptions are in Japanese so I didn't focus on those. looks like the Rudder is supported on a pintle through bolted at the base of the skeg((3 bolts). The shaft runs through bushing (large lower. smaller upper) and the tiller pivot clamp bolt acts as a safety bolt that is keyed to the shaft. Sorry I aint tearing it apart to find out for sure---- mines tight right now.

P.S Classy boats get you showroom space at the shipyard to attract buisness

It worked for me

I contacted him last year and he responded but it took a little while. I was able to get the rudder post bushing from him which took about a month to manufacture.

Good luck!
