Sorry but I expected to see some posts about Hunter and where they are at financially? I have owned 6 boats so Im a big fan not a basher, but No adds, not presenting at the Miami boat show, not making good on waranty work, not paying agreed promotion checks to buyers. Hasnt anyone on this forum been curious about the fact that they potenially might go out of business? Or not? I would love to hear some good news about Hunter. Hope things arent as bad as they seem. Lets get some info out there for us current owners.

Before we go nuts on the basis of a couple of issues, at least one of which we have heard only one side of the story, I'd suggest we refrain from feeding the rumor-mill. Hunter was certainly well represented at the St Pete boat show last month with a reasonable sales volume given the economy.
Having neither heard or seen any evidence of difficulty, why should anyone presume there is a problem?

I've been in touch with folks I know at Hunter lately and I'll post something as soon as I can, either later tonight or tomorrow. Short version: tough year, but the company plans to be around for a long time.

IRC, it's the dealers that pay for the boat shows, not Hunter (?), Hunter dealer was at the Toronto show with the brand new 39, a 26, 41DS and the new 50cc. Hunter was also represented at Chicago Strictly Sail.

There's always 2-3 sides to every story and mostly we've heard one side and part of another.

I might also add, I spoke with the new owner of a 2010 new Hunter 39 at the Toronto show that had their boat delivered in Florida by the Toronto dealer, without a hitch. She was ecstatic to say the least.

In the rumor mill. I heard that Hunter was having problems because of their power boat division. Just a rumor. First hand as of late I have seen no problems with Hunter. However, the local dealer has only sold a few small boats in the last year or so and he is a pretty big volume dealer.

As I said I want them to do well, but that post on them not paying the balance of the promotion checks, and the dealer telling me that they stopped paying the interest on the floorplans sure worried me

I have information that there are 5 owners remaining waiting for 3-4 payments. They will be looked after, a couple of owners that have posted have in fact been paid in full, it would be great if those owners would acknowledge this in the forum.

The recession has hurt all manufacturers, Hunter have a slight advantage due to sales outside of the U.S. and N. America. Yes it is slow and the workforce has been reduced to help weather this storm.

I am an owner who is also waiting for some funds to assist me in completeing warranty work not finnished by my dealer who went out of business. This dealers demise was just prior to the recession and nothing to do with Hunter sailboats or Hunter Marine.

Am I going to be fully reimbursed? time will tell, I do know that as soon as funds are available they will be sent to me, and thats the faith I have and put into Hunters hands.
I am trusting the folks at Hunter will do the right thing even if it takes a little longer than we think it should.

Hunter as most of you know is part of Luhrs, a huge marine company( http://www.luhrsmarinegroup.com/legend.htm ). Pretty sure it is privately held making it very difficult to understand the financials. But considering the times and their product line let us hope that sailboats survive. I have been to the Alachua plant and know some of the management. A more dedicated crew will not be found. Must be killing them to not have cash flow.

I too hope for the best at Hunter. They're an ESOP (employee owned) company. You won't find any fiinancial info posted on the web (SEC filiings, etc.) as a result since they're not publicly traded. Let's hope the country gets back on its feet soon and people once again have enough dough to get back into boating. Hunter is a fine company that well serves the production-boat market. I just wish they'd be a little more frank with their supporters.
