For anyone that removed interior carpet/cloth and painted: How did you remove the glue?
This past weekend I removed the old material from my quarterberth with the intention of painting (once the weather warms up) and found that the glue in large areas would not come off. I scraped with putty knives, razor scrapers, and used a paint stripper wheel on a drill. I knew that the roving would add texture to the painted surface but the glue spots are going to be really noticeable through the paint. Is there a chemical that isn't to noxious or damaging to fiberglass that can be used?
By the way, I figured that the foam backing on the material would be a little funky but I was seriously alarmed at the amount of mildew present. After seeing that I wish I had tackled this a long time ago.
