The Light on the Mast and plug for wiring

I am trying to replace the light on the mast of my Oday 26. I ordered an anchor light and it arrived last week, but the way it mounts and projects from the mast it will catch on the sail every time i tack.

The one that was original on my mast was smooth and conformed to the curve of my mast. the pic at the left is the mast and mount. the one on the right is the lense, dismounted and on my bench. I would like to find one like that. I have searched D and R, Jamestown, and Defender, but cannot find one that is smooth and conforms to my mast curve.

Also, I need a plug that goes through the deck and allows me to connect the mast wire to the boat. I think Appleman gave me that part number about a year ago, but i can't find it. :doh:

Thanks for that URL. I may have seen it in the past, but with Keith's question that was a great reminder.

Everytime I raise and lower my mast I have problems. The bulb fitting is old and corrosion happens with boats. But after I clean up the fitting and connections, it works. Why replace when the next one is going to do the same thing.

Lots of guys have gone to mast head LED fictures. If I was replacing, that is what I would do in todays world.

The plug and socket are always a problem. The way mine comes thru the cabin top gives me about 3/4 inch of wire to work with. But then more wire would require a socket that has space to hide and secure that wire while still providing a good water/weather seal.

I replaced my socket and plug with a brand that was hard to find on the street. I think that I got it at that chain that went belly up last year.

Keep in mind that I did not rebuild the cabin top like some, so I was working with original wire, and roof top. The last seal I used was the formable gasket rather that 4000 or LifeCaulk.

If I had enough wire, I would use the type fitting on the cabin top that the wire runs thru and then has an inline socket rather that a mounted socket. Just easier to maintain year after year.

I had a mild case brain gas when I made that last entry. This is what happens when you reach "Geezerdom." :D
I replaced my electric outlet and connector last year with a new one from West Marine, I think. If you go down to your local boat store and purchase one for your boat, bring a set of precision screwdrivers with you. When you hop into your vehicle, take the outlet and plug out of the package and check to make sure that all those tiny screws are operable before you leave the parking lot. Years ago I had to drive back 18 miles and return one of those electric outlets because one tiny screw was stripped. After that, I smartened up.
