I had to replace all my exterior teak. Instead of teak, I used HDPE. Cheap and works like wood.

There are also companies that sell it in teak look alike colors, but they also charge extra.

Thanks- I'll look into it. I can't say I've ever heard of it b4, I imagine HDPE an engineered product, though it is important to me that it look like the original teak material.

I met the guy behind this web site peddling his product at the Annapolis Boat Show about 10 years ago:

He is an outfit that will cut you strips of HDPE in lengths, widths, and thicknesses that you want:

I used a Craftsman router to round edges and to carve the groove that holds the cabin top in place.

Just to explain to Keith a second time, on my boat there were no pairs of teak that were good. They had breaks, missing pieces, and replacing with teak was not necessary.

I have worked with HDPE on other boats. It is relatively cheap, especially compared to teak and requires little maintenance. In fact just washing, no polishing required. Replacing all topside teak and a few interior parts cost less than $100.00. That inclues replacing backing for motor mount.

HDPE is quickly available in white or black. Other colors are special.
