I just bought a 1967 Oday Swift yesterday for my Grandson without the centerboard. I need to buy or make one.
To make one I need the specs.
My Grandson is 8 and really excited asbout sailing. Gotta start them young! Lol.
I know with all of the awesome sailors in this community one of you can help me out.

I really don't think that you're going to find a daggerboard for a Swift. Rudy of D & R Marine

has a lot of O'Day parts, but I doubt that he has anything in stock for the Swift. What you could do is go to this site,
http://www.iheartodays.com/index.html and under "model" you'll find the Swift. It will have a picture of the dagger board of this boat. You could build one out of Mahogany by looking at the picture. The draft of this boat is 3" and the draft with the dagger board in place is 2' 6". So you'll have a pretty good idea about the shape of the board by looking at the picture, as well as the depth of the board from the information given. All you would need to do is build one that will fit the slot, and round off the leading and trailing edges.
What you could do is build a cheap mocked up version of the dagger board out of plywood first, and try it out to see how she sails. Then if it works out OK, build a real nice one out of Mahogany. I've built some boat stuff out of Teak through the years, but I've always mocked them up with cheap pine wood first. Teak and Mahogany are too expensive to experiment with.
It sure sounds like a plan to me Randy, and I know that the little guy is going to have a blast sailing this boat.
