Since it's not a big cat, I can resist. Easy.
I truth, I like a boat I can easily sail myself, and I still miss my old beach cat. It seems to me sailing that boat would be more like running a business than having an adventure. I am sailing to escape running a business.
No, not really.This boat was pulling out of MDR last Wednesday. Someone estimated its about 140'. I'm guessing that he didn't like the 100% increase in guest slip fees.

They had it parked behind the fuel station dock. That's seems to be where they put all of the large guest boats, most of which seem to fly a British Union Flag of some sort.
Does anyone know if they make a trailer for her? I'm a trailer sailor! If I can just find a trailer and Peterbilt truck to tow her with, believe I'll make an offer! If I get lucky, and the seller accepts my offer, wonder if my neighbors will mind having another sailboat parked next to my home? No slip fees here, just taxes!

I like to have a boat that Jon and I can handle by ourselves, I don't think I'd want a boat that would require crew.
Do I dream of having a bigger boat one day? sure! but I doubt that we'll ever "need" anything bigger then a 40something

MDR ketch
A few years ago I was solo at the reciprocal dock in Friday Harbor and watched this huge dark blue hull ketch (I estimated her at 150 feet) come in for an overnight stay, then depart early the next morning. She was registered out of Victoria, BC CA and her name was Andromeda. She looked almost identical to the posted photos. I counted at least a crew of eight visible on deck. That night she had her mast lights on at each spreader pointing towards the sky. Breathtaking sight taking up almost the entire customs dock.
The last time I saw her was at anchor just south of Cypress Head on Cypress Island. That was two years ago. Perhaps this is her. Did you catch her name?

There is not one thing on that boat I could afford to repair or replace. She's a beauty though. A walk through would be really cool.
If anyone is at all interested in the design and construction of Perini Navi megayachts, I highly recommend the book "Mine's Bigger". The author's last name is Kaplan (I forget this first name). It's a book about the design and construction of the Maltese Falcon, the largest sailing yacht in the world. Not surprisingly, the book also goes into the life of the owner of the boat, Tom Perkins. I guess you can't write a book about just the boat; it is kind of interesting to know why someone spends so much time and money in building what is really just a toy. I just saw that the Maltese Falcon was sold, and if you read the book, you know that means Mr. Perkins will be moving on to the design and construction of yet another boat that will need to top Maltese Falcon. So, just how do you top a 300+ foot square rigged modern clipper ship?
Any sailboat that requires more than just my wife and I to sail, is too big. I prefer the intamacy and feel of a smaller boat that requires me to sail it. Boats have a tendancy to get so big that they are sailed my electronics and mechanics rather than the hands of two crew and loose their sense of daring, challenge and adventure. I prefer something under 50' myself.
