Peggy,

The potty will be on a shelf because of a stringer that runs under the present head. the present platform sticks out about 13.5 inches from the bulkhead and is at least 4-6 inches off of the sole. Thus, raising everything quite a bit.

I am certain I will go with the 365 MSD just to avoid dead batteries on the 465. Remember I am doing this to get rid of the maintenance of my Jabsco. The batteries would surely die on the second day of a 6 day trip much like the valve gasket on my jabsco.

How would you compare the Thetford 365MSD Dometic 975MSD?

Does pumping these out completely empty it? Can you rinse it from the dock while pumping out without it running out into the floor? Does someone have to monitor the potty to avoid an awful mess?

I thought you were doing this to increase holding capabity, save storage space, reduce expense, simplify your life AND eliminate maintenance.

About equal.

Does pumping these out completely empty it?
Leaves about 1/2" in the tank

Can you rinse it from the dock while pumping out without it running out into the floor?
You can if you pay attention. You can use the shower head if you have one, or a hose...one person outside paying attention to pumpout, the other manning the hose.

Does someone have to monitor the potty to avoid an awful mess?
Only if you're rinsing out the tank too. It's not essential to do that EVERY time you pump out, though.
