Got to be more to this story

The family of 16-year-old sailor Jessica Watson says she is still determined to become the youngest person to sail solo around the world, despite hitting a bulk carrier after less than 24 hours at sea.

These are my home waters and there is a continual stream shipping going up the Queensland coast off Stradbroke Island. You can't miss them they are lit up like Christmas trees. I also know that she had radar as I saw her boat coming out of Mooloolaba harbour. It will be interesting to know what happened. My guess is that she was on autopilot and asleep, very dangerous in a main shipping lane.

Jessica obviously has great courage and determination to want to continue after that. I can think of nothing more frightening than a close encounter of that kind. Many lesser folk would give up and go home.
