Hello all again

I recently discovered a small dent at the bottom of my mast about 5" above the foot.

it is on on the back of the mast and mainly effects the track. I've attached some pictures to provide you'll with a better idea of the extent of the damage.

Is this something I should really be worried about? and is there an easy fix?

By the way may boat is a 23' Sonic.

Cheers

Stick a flat pry bar in the slot, and push it back out. I've seen worse.

Deck stepped, not an issue, probably happened raising or lowering.

If you do this, make sure you use something like a block of wood to distribute the load on the other side or you will just make a new dent.

The dent seems to only be effecting the sail slide slot. If it were my mast, I would not worry about it. If you are not comfortable with it, you should consult a professional.

Leave it alone.. The damage is confined to a small space around the unusued part of the sail track. Because of the internal stiffening resulting from the sail track, the strength of the mast has not been compromised so as to be a problem.. but do leave it alone .. Sail and smile and forget about it.. be careful not to pinch anything in there, like a vang sheave, when you lower it.
